Through Belonging

This project explores the elusive search for belonging through bioplastic membranes that serve as both literal and metaphorical interfaces between self and environment. Having lived in numerous places, I question whether "home" is something visual, physical, or perhaps something more intangible.

The translucent installations create distorted yet recognizable views of surroundings—flowers, landscapes, and human forms appear transformed yet present, mirroring how our perception of place is filtered through personal experience. Suspended in frames that separate yet connect, these bioplastic portals suggest that belonging may exist not in perfect integration but in the liminal space between observer and observed.

As the poem accompanying the work suggests, "The winter is not stronger than me and my draw to be home." This visual meditation proposes that true belonging might be found not in complete adaptation to any single environment, but in embracing the inevitable translucency of our connections to place—always partially visible, partially obscured, carrying traces of everywhere we've been.
