For Body & Story

An exploration of the invisible territories between mind and body, knowledge and intuition, science and storytelling.

Through painting, sound composition, and film, this project investigates the liminal spaces where consciousness emerges, the threshold between what we can measure and what we can only feel. Two large-scale paintings form a diptych: one representing the body through fluid, visceral forms created while listening to rhythmic frequencies; the other depicting the mind through fragmented, linear marks made while absorbing spoken narrative. Between them, a deliberate gap of white space symbolises the territory yet to be explored.

Accompanying stereo sound work separates talking (mind) into one ear and music (body) into the other, creating a sonic threshold where listeners experience the division and connection simultaneously. Drawing on Irish storytelling traditions, scientific research into perception and matter, and historical concepts of "thin places," the work weaves contemporary investigation with ancient ways of knowing.

For Body and Story asks: what exists in the space between? Not to resolve the duality, but to honour it, and in doing so, reveal the invisible forces that connect us to ourselves, each other, and the world.
